Sport Immersive Experience Workshop

In order to assist the Victorian sport and recreation industry to attract more diverse audiences and create welcoming environments, we must look to Do Sport Differently by immersing ourselves into different sport experiences!

In partnership with VicHealth, the Centre for Sport and Social Impact at La Trobe University, Vicsport is coordinating this Sport Immersive Experience Workshop around Doing Sport Differently (DSD) – six key principles that guide the design and delivery of sport-based programs which target less-active people through social and flexible sport.

This Sport Immersive Experience Workshop and will feature new opportunities to get all participants thinking more deeply and broadly about how we deliver our sports.

In attending the 2025 Sport Immersive Experience Workshop, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Immerse yourself in a unique sports experience.
  • Learn directly from colleagues in the Victorian sports industry on how they have developed and implemented social sport programs using the Doing Sport Differently Principles.
  • Discuss ways to apply these insights to current or new programs in your sport.
  • Network and collaborate!

Presenters

Hosted by Dr. Erica Randle Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Sport and Social Impact, and Andrew O’Loughlin from the Sports Experience Design Co.

Why an ‘immersive workshop’?

We want to ensure our attendees walk away from this event having learnt something that they can apply, and we all know that we all learn best by actually experiencing something.

We also know that we need actionable learnings, so after you participate in the activity, we will workshop ways that you can apply these learnings in your own work through the DSD principle workshop.

What is actually involved?

In the first part of this session, you will experience what it’s like to participate in a sport you may not have tried, and then the second half will see you take part in a workshop to unpack your learnings.
