Position: Board Director

Vicsport is seeking applications from interested individuals for two (2) Appointed Director positions commencing in June 2018.

Vicsport is the peak body for sport and active recreation in Victoria. Vicsport represents and supports its members in order to encourage and assist more Victorians and Victorian communities to enjoy the enormous benefits that sport and active recreation can provide.

For over 30 years Vicsport has provided advice, assistance and support to its members and the broader sports community. Vicsport’s constituency includes 16,000 clubs and associations, and over 3.25 million participants, paid staff and volunteers who make a significant contribution to the social, physical, mental and economic wellbeing of the Victorian community.

The Board of Vicsport comprises 8 non-executive directors elected by its community of members. The board is supported by a CEO.

To support Vicsport deliver its strategic imperatives and ensure strong governance, the Board invites applications from interested candidates with skills and expertises in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Brand and Marketing
  • Digital Strategy
  • Human Resources
  • Regional Sport
  • Government Relations

The Victorian Government has set Mandatory Board Quotas of 40% female representation on sport governing bodies in an effort to improve gender balance. Vicsport is committed to complying with the principles of gender balance and good governance to reach a minimum quota. Vicsport encourages women to apply for these positions.


Board meetings are held in Melbourne, every two months on a Monday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

The Board may hold a planning and strategy day/half day from time to time.

Directors may also be asked to contribute to subcommittee work and attend Vicsport events.Directors will be expected to attend the AGM.

Please submit a one page personal statement / overview accompanied with a CV of no more than 3 pages, addressing the skills sought, to by May 18th 2018.

Applicants will be contacted following the closing date for applications. Applicants may be interviewed at the discretion of the recruitment panel.

It is intended that appointments be made by 11th June 2018 a week prior to this year’s strategy/planning day on 18th June 2018.

National Rugby League Victoria

Position: Chair, Australian Rugby League Commission Victoria

The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) is the governing body for Rugby League in Australia. It sets the overall strategic direction for the game and works to ensure that the administration across all levels of Rugby League can meet the demand of a modern, professional and well governed sports.

The ARLC is seeking a Chair for ARLC VIC Limited (NRL Victoria & NRL Tasmania) to be a key honorary role within the organisation. The Chair is the “lead” director and utilises experience, skills, and leadership ability to facilitate governance processes and provide a lead advocacy and board representation to the public and company stakeholders.

The role will report to the ARLC, facilitate decisions and create highly engaged relationships with stakeholders within a complex operating environment and competing interests of diverse stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of corporate governance and senior strategic leadership, with preference within sporting industry
  • Good understanding of Rugby League and sporting industry
  • Strong business acumen and commercial astuteness
  • Facilitate leadership and strong people skills
  • Communication skills to network and build effective relationships with key stakeholders
