Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) Network
Vicsport, in partnership with Sport & Recreation Victoria (SRV) are pleased to launch the Victorian Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) Network.
This Network has been established to support State Sporting Associations (SSAs), Regional Sport Assemblies (RSAs) and other key stakeholder organisations with staff working with or managing MPIO related issues. 3-4 meetings will be held per year in order to provide ongoing support.
First Meeting- Effectively Handling & Managing Disputes
At the inaugural meeting, the Forum heard from three guest speakers; Peter Downs from Play By the Rules, Andrew Scott- Mediator, Lawyer and Tribunal Member and Dr. Caitlin Honey from Athletics Victoria.
All three speakers provided useful insights including the role of the MPIO in handling complaints and managing disputes, what happens when a dispute becomes more formal and how they should be managed and an Athletics Victoria case study on the sometimes conflicting role of being an MPIO in a sport and also the organisation responsible for managing the dispute.
If you were unable to attend or would like a refresh on the discussions from the the first meeting, the live-stream is available anytime below.
Vicport will soon launch an MPIO newsletter, providing further support to MPIO’s in the Victorian Sport Industry with reminders on upcoming events. Register for the MPIO newsletter and receive further information with the link below.
