LGBTIQ+ YOUTH SPORT AND RECREATION SUMMIT

Join Vicsport, Proud 2 Play and Deakin University to help shape the future of sport and active recreation for young LGBTIQ+ people.

The inaugural LGBTIQ+ Youth Sport and Recreation Summit is part of Wear It Purple Day and aims to bring together LGBTIQ+ young people, their allies and representatives from across the Victorian sport and active recreation sector to explore and discuss the experiences and needs of LGBTIQ+ young people in sport.

Session Overview:

This one-day summit will be broken up into three sections;

• 1^st session we will hear stories from our guests, young LGBTIQ+ people and their experiences with sport
• 2^nd session we will have presentations from selected state sporting organisations about the work they are currently doing to support LGBTIQ+ youth
• 3^rd session will be facilitated workshops to discuss the following topics
  • What does an LGBTIQ+ inclusive sport look like
  • What is a good ally and how can we support more?
  • How to engage with us: Structured sport/social sport/ fan engagement
  • What is good leadership in this space?
