Vicsport and VicReturn announce new partnership
Vicsport is excited to announce a new partnership with VicReturn, the coordinator of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic). The partnership will help drive fundraising activities undertaken by Victoria’s sporting clubs and organisations, so that they can continue to provide opportunities for sport to play a role in the lives of all Victorians.
CDS Vic is a recycling program that provides Victorians with a 10 cent refund for every eligible drink container they return. It aims help to build Victoria's circular economy, while putting money into the pockets of Victorians, communities and charities.
The Scheme offers a great opportunity for sporting clubs to boost their fundraising efforts by encouraging their members, supporters and local community to donate their drink container refunds or to donate containers to the club.
Most aluminium, glass and plastic drink containers and drink cartons between 150mL and 3 litres are eligible for a refund. Just look for the 10c mark on the drink container label. Lids can be left on, as they too will be recycled and made into new products.
“This exciting partnership between Vicsport and VicReturn will benefit individual members of the sport and recreation industry as well as sporting organisations, clubs and associations,” said Vicsport CEO, Lisa Hasker.
“Through a collective effort, funds can be raised by organisations that would directly benefit their bottom line while there is the added incentive of improving the environments on and around our playing surfaces.”
VicReturn CEO, Jim Round, said, “We know that many sporting clubs and organisations are keen to have a greater sustainability footprint across their activities.
“Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme offers a unique opportunity for them to boost their fundraising while also making a positive contribution to the environment and the development of Victoria’s circular economy. That’s a win for all!”
