Sport for All Abilities Breakfast

What is the aim of the event?

There are over 1 million people in Victoria with a disability, and just over 700,000 of these people are not engaged in sport activities. Therefore, the sport industry has a huge opportunity to engage more people with a disability. Programs such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) are supporting more and more people with a disability to lead active lifestyles. In creating inclusive environments and breaking down participation barriers, sport organisations can change their sport for the better and increase participation by people with a disability.

This breakfast is being hosted by Vicsport and Access All Abilities Play (AAA Play) – the first-point-of call service connecting people with a disability to sports and recreational opportunities in Victoria, managed by Reclink Australia.

Guest speaker:

David Moody, Victorian State Manager at National Disability Services (NDS), talking about how the disability sector works and how sport organisations can capitalise on the opportunities available. David has extensive experience working in policy and strategy settings related to health promotion and has held senior roles at the Department of Health & Human Service and Department of Premier and Cabinet.
