Fair to say, most of us struggle to find the time to work, exercise, eat, sleep, socialise and spend time with family and friends (the list is endless).
We know exercise has several positive benefits such as preventing excess weight gain and combating diseases, it’s finding the time to squeeze it all in to be a major barrier for most people.

In recent times, Vicsport has been promoting how organisations can enhance their welcoming practices and open their doors to women and girls on the track, field, court and pool.
In our last edition of Sportsview, we featured an article on how organisations and local governments can take small steps to boost participation in sport of women and girls. Thanks to the launch of This Girl Can Vic campaign, women are finding ways to reach out to their local sporting clubs and are signing up. Whether for social reasons or to improve fitness, more and more women are donning the activewear in the name of fitness and fun.
One sporting organisation has tapped into a demographic of new and expecting mothers and created the Bowling With Babies program.
In partnership with VicHealth, Bows Victoria set up the Bowling with Babies program thanks to the funding that was announced in October last year at the State Netball and Hockey Centre of of $6.7 million to 19 sporting organisations.
Bowls Victoria saw a gap in their target audience and developed the program to encourage more women to the sport. Adding a social element to the program gives young mothers an opportunity to get out of the house, be active and mix with women in similar life scenarios to them.
Bowling with Babies provides a safe, comfortable environment for new mums to get out of the house, meet other mum and enjoy a game of bowls and coffee.
