Policies and Practice
Aboriginal People
All sport organisations are encouraged to have policies promoting inclusion of people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Your inclusion policies and codes of conduct should be developed in consultation with and reference the needs of Aboriginal people, as well as other population groups you want to attract to your sport.
Where sport organisations have policies and procedures which relate specifically to Aboriginal people, common areas to consider are:
- Promoting cultural awareness and acceptable attitudes and behaviors
- Providing an environment of cultural safety
- Developing reconciliation action plans
