Voting Panelist Announced!

Hundreds of nominations were submitted from various sporting organisations, people putting their teammates, coaches, administrators, volunteers and officials in the running to receive a well deserved award.

So where to from here? Voting panels have been set up for each award category to deliberate and discuss a selection of finalists and ultimately choose a winner.

Who better to make these decisions than experts in their fields and former athletes themselves. Below is a sneak peek of a few of the voting panelists.

Left to right: Lindsay Gaze, Steven Reaper, Rosie King, David Parkin OAM, Linley Frame

David Parkin - Let’s ‘kick off’ the voting panel with a man who needs very little introduction in the AFL world, a former player himself and four-time AFL premiership coach.

Steven Reaper - A goalkicking champion from Bendigo, Steven Reaper now holds the top job as CEO at AFL Victoria.

Lindsay Gaze – Lindsay is legend Australian basketballer and coach. He played for Australia at three Olympics between 1960 and 1968 and coached the Australian basketball team at four Olympics between 1972 and 1984.

Rosie King – Rose is the CEO of Netball Victoria and a well-known face around sporting grounds in Victoria. Rosie is also a Director of the Australian Paralympic Committee and was the first female to hold a CEO role when she was appointed Acting CEO at the Geelong Football Club in 2013.

Linley Frame - Linley is an Olympian and won a gold at the 1991 FINA Aquatics Championships in the 100-metre breaststroke. A woman of resilience, Linley was forced into retirement at 25 at the Olympics in 1992 battling chronic fatigue. Linley made a comeback to the pool at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 in Delhi, India.
