LGA Forum

If you are working in a sport or active leisure role within Council you can't afford to miss this unique event!

The Forum, now in its third year, provides a platform for LGAs to discuss the major sport and active recreation issues related to their respective areas and in relation to Victorian sport overall.

You will have the opportunity to hear from, and engage with, a number of key figures from organisations including the Australian Sports Commission, Sport and Recreation Victoria, VicHealth, and a panel of State Sporting Associations (SSAs). These presentations will all be discussing current challenges and trends ranging from an international to a local context, and the implications for LGAs.

Throughout the day a number of key topics will be addressed, including:

  • Strategic alignment between stakeholders
  • Ausplay Survey – overview and opportunities
  • Current challenges for SSAs relevant to LGAs
  • State Government Facilities Strategy
  • VicHealth’s Action Agenda – opportunities and implications
  • Victoria's population growth projections
  • Data collection
  • Rate capping
  • Facility planning
  • Health implications and social return on sport and active recreation participation

The interactive nature of these workshops will allow you to address the topics, and discuss what they could mean to local councils. Attendees will also be able to have input into the messaging that will be distributed to SSAs and State Government and as such, contribute to increasing collaboration and a greater understanding the needs of each stakeholder.
