VPN Event - Strengthening Successful Boards

Sport in Australia, and particularly Victoria, is going through a significant period of change regarding governance, board diversity and the expectations of board members.

Each year sporting organisations undertake their role with little time allocated for review and reflection of their own performance and board culture.

Off the back of the success of Vicsport’s event in February “Building Effective Boards”, comes the second installment, “Strengthening Successful Boards” on Wednesday 2 May 2018.

The focus on this event is to improve the behaviour, culture and performance of board members. Through active discussion and scenario-based conversation, Strengthening Successful Boards will give participants an opportunity to implement practical strategies to address board performance and long-term culture change.

This workshop will prove to be valuable for organisations looking to meet the State Governments incoming mandatory board quotas on 1 July 2019.

Key messages to be delivered at the event will be:

  • A further understanding of how to assess and improve board performance, behaviour, culture
  • A deeper awareness and insight of the incoming mandatory board quotas and what steps your organisation can take to meet the quotas
  • How your organisation can benefit from a diverse board

Like all Vicsport events, there will be allocated networking time for board members to (current and future) to network, share ideas, and forge relationships.

This workshop style event will be facilitated by Vicsport’s Sports Consultant Fiona Jones, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, breakdown the issues at hand and openly discuss how to implement better governance practices in their sporting organisations.

Spaces are limited and tend to sell out quickly. This event is free for VPN members, $49 for non members. Secure your spot today.
