AFL Vic and FFV Say No To Gambling

Both AFL Victoria and Football Federation Victoria have taken a firm stance against the ever growing gambling industry and aim to encourage people to "Love the moment not the odds".

The partnership between the two football bodies and the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF) aims to discourage betting enthusiasts from placing bets and bring people back to the love of the game.

The primary focus behind the 'Love the Game" campaign is to counter the growing culture of gambling in sport and create safe and healthy sporting clubs in Victoria.

Gambling advertising is everywhere in sport. At major stadiums, lucrative broadcast deals and it's even among signage at grassroots sporting grounds.

Over 300 grassroots clubs have signed up to be part of the 'Love The Game' program. These clubs include AFL, soccer and cricket, among other sports. In addition, FFV is working with VRGF community educators across Victoria to deliver information sessions to new participating clubs and to 'Love the Game' themed rounds.

Football Federation Victoria CEO Maxwell Gratton said the "Partnership with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation reinforces the important role that football plays in our community".

"A partnership of this stature, for the growth and benefit of our clubs and the individuals within, shows FFV's commitment to growing and enhancing the football experience".
