As Vicsport’s preferred provider of club volunteer training, Leisure Networks has facilitated over 40 club development workshops in the past 12 months across Melbourne and Geelong for 8 different local government authorities and 5 state sporting organisations. Sessions have covered areas including Grant Writing, Finance, Governance, Social Media, Gender Equity and Respectful Relationships, Club Planning, Leadership and Volunteer Management.
In addition to workshops, Leisure Networks has been engaged to deliver a number larger scale club development projects. The most recent of these has been with Dianella Health and Hume City Council to deliver outcomes around female participation and gender equity in six sporting clubs across Hume City. This entailed a preliminary workshop for club volunteers including committee members around increasing female participation, followed by tailored support for interested clubs. The clubs involved in the project titled “Let’s Play Together in Hume” all undertook a Gender Equity Audit and a planning session facilitated by Leisure Networks staff as the starting point. From here, each club has been supported to develop their identified priorities including, the development of new opportunities for female participation, recruitment and training of women into official roles, and development of policies / procedures and codes of conduct to enhance gender equity outcomes.
