Vicsport’s Strategic Plan ‘Vicsport 2014-2016’ provided a fresh direction which has now been effected and the changes to the organisation, and its operations, have been consolidated throughout 2015-16. The Vicsport Board and staff are committed to agreed strategic priorities with a deliberate focus on delivering outcomes for its three groups of particular attention: member organisations, individual members and the industry as a whole. 2015-16 has seen Vicsport consolidate itself as the peak organisation for thought leadership, advocacy, networking, support, promotion and development in sport. Vicsport has completed a significant body of work during the year, guided by its strategic plan, governed and led by its Board and implemented by staff. Vicsport is committed to delivering services to and for members and stakeholders which assist in encouraging more Victorians to enjoy the enormous benefits that sport and active recreation provide. Vicsport has a clear strategic direction and purpose for the future and this direction is providing the foundation for all of the services, projects and policy positions on which it is focussed. Generating the necessary income to achieve all of Vicsport’s desired outcomes remains a challenge; however the clear strategic direction has put Vicsport in an excellent position to tackle this challenge. Such clarity has also provided Vicsport with the opportunity of working with State Government and statutory authorities in a truly collaborative way to ensure there is an alignment of both Vicsport and government objectives. Building the capacity and capability within the industry continues to be the major focus of Vicsport’s work with major services and programs delivered to State Sporting Associations and Regional Sports Assemblies. Such services and programs are centred on strategic advice and professional support for the boards and staff of these organisations. The Vicsport Professionals Network (VPN), established in 2014, has continued to grow throughout 2015-16. The VPN’s purpose is to connect and develop Victorian sport’s administrators through events, workshops and by providing information specifically for individual administrators, whether board directors, CEOs, staff or students, to develop their careers. Vicsport has made consultation a focal point of its activities to ensure that communications and decisions are based on the genuine needs of members and stakeholders. Such consultation informs Vicsport’s advocacy and representation work, in addition to shaping the services Vicsport delivers. Consultation and member engagement have been undertaken via forums, workshops, one-on-one meetings, an annual LGA Forum, an annual CEO Forum and regular President’s Breakfasts. The continued support of the State Government, through the Department of Health and Human Services in which Sport and Recreation Victoria is located, is acknowledged and has allowed Vicsport to deliver services and programs for the industry, State Sporting Associations and Regional Sports Assemblies and to many of the key individuals within Victorian sport. Vicsport specifically thanks The Hon John Eren MP Minister for Sport and his office, and the staff of Sport and Recreation Victoria for their ongoing support. VicHealth is a major partner and Vicsport is very pleased to play its role in improving the health of Victorians by supporting VicHealth programs which deliver funding to sporting organisations. Sport does and must play a major role in the health and wellbeing of the Victorian community and the Board and staff of VicHealth are acknowledged for their ongoing commitment to and recognition of sport as a principal vehicle for the delivery and promotion of its health messages. Vicsport’s corporate partners are sincerely thanked for their commitment to Vicsport and Victorian sport. Vicsport partnered with 19 organisations during 2015-16 as part of its Preferred Supplier Program. Vicsport is comfortable recommending the services of its Preferred Suppliers to the industry as these businesses continue to provide reliable services of excellent quality to Vicsport directly.
