Vicsport provided support and/or advice on numerous topics including government relations, governance, dispute resolution, legislation and strategy. To monitor and evaluate the interaction that Vicsport has with its members and stakeholders, Vicsport measured the number of engagements with such organisations on the aforementioned topics. To be recorded as an engagement, service of at least 30 minutes had to be provided either via phone or face-to-face. Such engagements were separate to any specific projects Vicsport were working on and were generally responding to requests received from members and stakeholders. Submissions to Public Inquiries & Consultations VICSPORT DEVELOPED 5 MAJOR SUBMISSIONS ON BEHALF OF ITS MEMBERS. Wyndham Open Space Strategy The purpose of this submission was to highlight the benefits that organised sport and active recreation can provide to the community and how effective planning can increase such benefits. ASC Governance Discussion Paper The purpose of the submission was to provide feedback regarding the suggested governance reform that sport should consider. Vicsport supported strategic alignment within sport but suggested that beginning with a collaboration agenda would achieve more success than a structural change agenda. Creating Child Safe Organisations Consultation Vicsport provided a response and recommendations related to the draft initiatives proposed by State Government related to Child Safeguarding. Victorian Gender Equity Strategy Consultation Vicsport’s response commended the Women In Sport & Recreation Inquiry Report as appropriate gender equity strategy related to sport and active recreation. Infrastructure Victoria 30 Year Strategy Vicsport’s submission highlighted the role of sport in the community and the need for community sporting facilities in addition to major stadia and facilities to be considered in the 30 year strategy.
