Mandatory Board Quotas - 1 July 2019

The introduction of mandatory quotas aims to bring about long term cultural change for Victorian sport in order to grow and strengthen sport and recreation organisations through good governance practices. How each organisation seeks to address the mandatory quotas may be different, as will the journey and processes undertaken.

On 1 July 2019 sporting organisations will be expected to comply with the mandatory 40% women on boards quota in order to qualify for government funding. As part of a suite of ongoing resources and support, Vicsport has compiled information on how organisations can prepare to meet the incoming quotas. Download the Starting Out: Items To Consider form here.

There are a number of items organisations need to consider when starting out to meet the incoming quotas. The looming deadline of July 2019 may still feel like a while away, however changeover and movement on boards usually happens at AGM's and whilst most organisations have their AGM's in the coming months, if no change to board members is made this year, this only leaves a short window of one year to implement the change.

Vicsport staff are available to provide support for organisations looking to meet the quotas. Contact Fiona Jones at Vicsport for more information on how to meet the incoming quotas on 9698 8109 email fionaj@vicsport.com.au.
