Imagine in 2030, women are established in leadership positions on and off the football field.
Imagine Victoria is recognised as a leader in the World Game for promoting gender equity and enabling women to realise their potential through football.
How can we achieve this vision and make this our future?
Football Federation Victoria (FFV) is a hosting a Women in Football 21st Century Town Hall meeting, where we can work together to develop strategies to address the imbalance of women in leadership positions.
FFV will bring together 100 women/girls, representative of females across our game, for a facilitated forum. We will use an online deliberative platform WeAssent, to collate participants' ideas and produce a consensus report. The report will be used to inform FFV strategies to increase the number of women in leadership positions in football.
Former Matilda and Melbourne Victory’s first W-League captain, Tal Karp, now an FFV Director, will host the event, together with FFV Directors Tammi Rose and Sandra Lordanic.
Key speakers include:
- The Minister for Women, the Honourable Fiona Richardson, who will open the event, and speak to her vision for the future of women in football;
- The Minister for Sport, the Honourable John Eren, who will close the event, and respond to how the consensus report will be used;
- Kate Jenkins, Victorian Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commissioner, who will speak on the key hurdles to equal opportunity for women in sport in Australia and key strategies to overcome them; and
- Peggy O'Neal, President of Richmond Football Club, who will speak to achievements we can learn from – across sports and across jurisdictions.
Key decision-makers will be presented with the consensus report at the end of the forum, including The Minister for Sport, John Eren and FFV CEO, Peter Gome. They will be invited to respond to how the report will be used, including opportunities and roles that all participants can play.
